Scramble text
A scramble reveal shows each character cycling through random glyphs before settling on the real one, usually resolving left to right. It reads as decoding — the message assembling itself out of noise — and carries a technical, cinematic energy that suits reveals of names, numbers, and features.
When to use it
A product name materializing, a stat resolving, a moment of controlled chaos before a drop. Keep it short (0.4–0.8s), resolve in reading order, and use a restrained glyph set so it doesn't look like static.
Common mistakes
Scrambling body copy (unreadable); letting it run long enough to feel like an error; combining it with other busy effects in the same shot so nothing reads.
How Impractical uses it
Scramble is in Impractical's entrance vocabulary, with one engineering twist: the randomness is seeded from a hash, not Math.random, so the scramble is identical on every render — a requirement of its deterministic frame-by-frame export pipeline.
