Text exit
A text exit is the animated departure of a word, line, or title. Good exits preserve pacing: the old idea leaves quickly enough for the next beat to arrive, but not so abruptly that the viewer reads it as a glitch.
When to use it
Use exits when copy changes in the same frame, when a scene clears for a transition, or when a word needs to become motion into the next idea.
Common mistakes
Only animating entrances; fading everything out; letting old text linger under new text.
How Impractical uses it
Impractical has named text exits including rise, fall, blur, pop, scramble, wipe, scatter, and streak. That lets directors clear a shot with the same intention they used to build it.
