Rho Close: Intelligent Transaction Coding

Rho introduces a feature that automates transaction coding for month-end reconciliation.

What Rho shipped

Rho launched Rho Close, an automated transaction coding feature designed to eliminate the manual drag of month-end reconciliation. By referencing past ledger data and vendor history, it generates a suggested first pass for accountants and founders to review.

Fintech motion design often struggles to make accounting look dynamic. In 41 seconds, Rho has to communicate a highly technical workflow—chart of accounts syncing, vendor mapping, ledger exports—without bogging down in UI minutiae.

How the motion works

The 41-second runtime dictates a relentless pace. The edit relies on hard cuts to move between the problem state of manual coding and the solution state of automated suggestions. There is no time for lingering establishing shots; the film drops the viewer directly into the interface.

To make transaction coding visually engaging, the motion team abstracts the UI into clean, high-contrast geometric blocks. Punch-ins are used aggressively. Instead of showing a static spreadsheet, the camera punches in on specific transaction rows, scaling the typography up to fill the frame and forcing the viewer's eye to the exact point of automation.

Kinetic typography does the heavy lifting for the narrative. Large, tracking text overlays the UI elements, matching the rhythm of the edit. Match cuts transition the viewer from a messy, un-coded list to a neatly categorized ledger, using the structural grid of the interface as the anchor point for the cut. This visualizes the transformation instantly.

What to steal from it

  • Use hard cuts to establish a fast, no-nonsense rhythm when explaining utility features.
  • Abstract complex spreadsheets into high-contrast geometric rows to keep the viewer focused on the action.
  • Drive the narrative with kinetic typography rather than relying solely on voiceover for technical workflows.
  • Anchor match cuts to the grid of your UI to transition smoothly between problem and solution states.
