Speed ramp
A speed ramp changes perceived speed inside a shot: fast through travel or setup, slower on the important landing. It lets a film compress time without losing the moment the viewer needs to read.
When to use it
Use it for camera travel, list buildup, repeated UI actions, and before a final reveal. The ramp should point attention toward the landing.
Common mistakes
Ramping everything; slowing down moments with no information; creating speed changes that fight the music.
