Wipe text
A wipe text reveal exposes type with a moving clipping edge. Unlike a slide, the letters do not travel across the composition; the mask moves over them. It feels cleaner and more graphic than a fade.
When to use it
Use it when the typography should feel designed but not bouncy: product names, chapter cards, and section titles.
Common mistakes
Wiping in the wrong direction for the layout; revealing too slowly; using a soft fade under the wipe, which weakens the graphic edge.
How Impractical uses it
Wipe is available as both a text effect and a full-frame transition in Impractical. The system can use the same visual idea at word scale or scene scale.
